The porous surface, the marble, absorbs everything it interacts with. This means that the juice will spill or acid accidents will ruin the beauty of the slab. Colour stains may occur and the surface may appear blurred depending on each “accident”.
The marble benchtops should be a little more careful than other towers. Some spots do not disappear with a simple cloth. It is recommended to be rough and rubbed. As long as you can restore beauty, you shouldn’t hesitate in the extra effort you have to do.
Here are some tips for taking care of your marble table.
- Choose the right cleaner
Not all soaps and detergents are suitable for cleaning marble countertops. Picking up the wrong cleaner can damage it more than stains. When choosing a cleaner, read the label and make sure it is specifically for marble benches. Marble is a very fragile material. Inappropriate products can damage the upper part. A non-abrasive cleaner is required. There should be no ammonia or hydrogen peroxide. Do not use dishwashing liquids that contain citric acid.
- Use lukewarm water
When cleaning the marble table, moisten a cloth or sponge with warm water. Warm water lifts the floor and lightens stains. Do not use tap water to take additional precautions. Tap water contains chlorine. It can damage the surface. On the other hand, it is safe to use warm water. Does not damage the marble table and reduces cleaning time.
- Clean up
Organize professional cleaning services regularly. They creak the kitchen. If you can’t get professional service, you can do the grinding job yourself with turpentine. If the surface has been cleaned with stains or spilled water, soak the cloth in a small amount of turpentine and wipe it clean. Turpentine is a highly flammable material, so clean it with water and a cloth. Paint thinners can be used instead.
- Regular cleaning
Dust and grime collect and rub daily rather than accumulate. If something spills, immediately grab the cloth and wipe it clean. If the stain is severe, sprinkle on the caustic soda and leave it for a few minutes. Clean with an old toothbrush and wipe with a damp cleaning cloth. Regular cleaning maintains the shine and lustre of the marble table for many years. It looks as good as the date you installed it.
- Seal every year
To extend the life of the marble benchtops, we apply marble sealer every year. This can create a barrier between the surface and other abrasive materials. Regular cleaning by experts not only preserves the kitchen but also adds light.
- Take preventive measures
As they say, protection is better than cure. Do your best to avoid placing the pot directly on the surface instead of resisting stains or scratches later. Use a cutting board when you need to cut something. Visit Regal Stonemason to find out more details.
